Overview: 

The ERA Radio Council

1)      Acts as the voice of Radio Direct Response advertising management and all of its elements such as creative, research and promotion, education, finance, administration, media, international, ethics and regulations;

2)      provides for networking among peers by offering a forum for interaction and idea exchange;

3)      offers opportunities for professional growth and development;

4)      adds to the body of knowledge in the arena of Radio Direct Response advertising; recognizes excellence in performance and achievement in Radio Direct Response. advertising.

 

Mandate: 

ERA Radio Council members are direct response professionals from ERA member companies in good standing, who are engaged in some facet of retailing or marketing via traditional radio, and are considered experts within their fields. The goal of the Council is to plan tactics designed to promote the use of Radio direct response by marketers.

 

 A steering committee comprised of Council members plans and directs the council’s activities.

 

 The Council of the whole has at least two meetings year, in person – one at the ERA Annual Conference, and one in conjunction with the ERA mid-Winter Conference.

 

 The Council chair also serves as the steering committee chair. The chair is sits at the pleasure of the ERA Board chair.

 

 With the exception of the two in-person meetings on-site, the steering committee meets monthly, every third Thursday at 2pm ET, telephonically.

 

For the purposes of voting, one, and only one, representative from any ERA member company shall be an eligible steering committee member.

 

 Currently, members serve as liaisons to the Education committee, the research task force of the MarCom Committee, and the Latin American council.

 

 If an active steering committee member has two consecutive “no calls/no shows”, that member will be placed on inactive status in the committee, meaning that they will receive the information pertaining to the council activities, but not be considered active on the steering committee again unless they attend two consecutive meetings of the steering committee.

 

 If a Council member is absent from both in-person meetings, and four consecutive conference calls, and gives no report to the chair or staff, then the Council shall be de-list the individual from the Council roster.

 

 Council members are also expected to assist with the planning of Radio direct response advertising-specific sessions during annual conference and events, to provide ample guidance in relation to radio direct response research and industry analysis, to assist and offer expertise regarding radio direct response related government affairs initiatives, and to educate the general ERA membership on the best practices of radio direct response.

Radio Council Meeting onsite – limitation of individuals

There shall be no limitation of individuals from companies at any onsite meeting. All annual meeting registrants interested in the medium of DR Radio are enthusiastically welcome.
