WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 2, 2014) – The Electronic Retailing Association (ERA) (Retailing.org) has appointed SSA Public Relations to serve as media relations agency of record for the Washington DC-based industry trade association representing the global direct-to-consumer marketplace.

Established in 1989, SSA Public Relations was among the first public relations agencies working on behalf of direct response clients in the U.S., Canada and international markets.

As public relations agency of record, SSA will work closely with ERA’s leadership, marketing and membership staff to represent the association’s business development, consumer support and legislative initiatives to media across all categories of financial, legislative and consumer media.

“Throughout its 25-year history, SSA Public Relations has demonstrated a deep commitment and dedication to the direct response industry. We are pleased to announce the appointment of SSA Public Relations to ERA and look forward to a long and successful association with CEO Steve Syatt and his team,” said Julie Coons, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Electronic Retailing Association.

“Since its formation 23 years ago, the Electronic Retailing Association has played a crucial and fundamental role in helping to build and promote the global direct-to-consumer marketing industry.  As the direct response voice in Washington, ERA is focused on protecting continued business growth through its vital legislative work.  At the same time, ERA’s self-regulatory guidelines and savvy shopper initiatives help build consumer trust that impacts the entire membership. We are extremely proud to bring the message of ERA and the industry to media nationwide and throughout the world,” said Steve Syatt, CEO of SSA Public Relations.
